Recession Proof Pt. 2
The second (and final) part of these songs that stress meaningful relationships over cold hard cash is somewhat silly and completely jovial and sliiiightly askew. This is Louis Prima singing his tune “Banana Split for My Baby”. It is the story of a man ordering the most luxurious banana split sunday for his lady, while only ordering a meager glass of water for himself.
It’s no secret among my friends that I am a little obsessed with Louis Prima. My bias being stated, this song is an especially hilarious Prima song. This split that he is ordering up is a monstrosity topped with such ridiculousness as a pizza and a whole bunch of bananas.
The punchline really ties the songs together and that being said, doesn’t reeeeally fit the criteria of this segment, but I needed an excuse to post this song and although it was a stretch it kinda worked. Check out this music video of the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJcRoYuV2Q0
